DeGruccio has proven himself as adept at staging great big musicals like Jekyll & Hyde and last December’s Rent as he is at directing chamber pieces like Thrill Me and The Story Of My Life.  In a choreography-free show like this one, the emphasis is squarely on the characters created by Borden and Townsend, and DeGruccio’s lengthy résumé as an actor is evident in the pitch-perfect performances he’s drawn from his two leads.  There’s also DeGruccio’s adeptness at keeping a two-man show like this visually interesting.  All in all, another stellar job from one of L.A.’s true theater gems. - Steven Stanley
